WSP partnership creates future-ready energy strategies

WSP is working closely with Centrica Business Solutions to offer world-class consultancy and innovative technology to cut energy costs and carbon emissions for customers

Background

The energy sector is undergoing a transformation. Decarbonisation, resource constraints, technology advancements, urbanisation and environmental challenges – all these trends are having a powerful influence on a global scale.

In a world where there is increasing climate risk, how we produce, distribute and use energy is one of our greatest challenges. Businesses need to improve energy efficiency and to decarbonise their energy supply chains to achieve exceptional environmental performance – all while implementing innovative strategies and business models.

But who is helping customers evolve in line with the needs of a lower carbon future?

WSP and Centrica Business Solutions are working together to do just that – readying global clients for the decarbonised future.

What services do you offer your clients?

WSP provides multidisciplinary engineering, technical, and project delivery services at all phases of a project, from initial development and planning studies through to front-end design, project management and commissioning.

We help clients across all sectors unlock opportunities to meet their energy needs. WSP’s ‘Future Ready’ approach helps us and our clients understand future trends in climate, society, technology and resources more clearly. As a result, we design not just for today but for the future. We see the decarbonisation of all sectors, including energy, as a key opportunity and potential differentiator for our clients.

What challenges does the market face?

The energy market is in transition. Decarbonisation, the widespread adoption of renewables and the anticipated
mass adoption of EVs are driving a significant shift in market dynamics, creating associated uncertainty.

Businesses need to consider how they need to adapt to become ready for the future.

Which sectors do you operate in?

We are one of the world’s leading engineering professional services consultancies. We work across a broad range of sectors, including property and buildings, transport and infrastructure, environment, industry, resources and energy.

We also provide project delivery and strategic consulting services. We see the decarbonisation agenda as a common thread that runs through all the industries in which we operate.

What does your partnership with Centrica Business Solutions add?

We’ve enjoyed the opportunity to work closely with Centrica Business Solutions, sharing our perspectives on current and future trends.

We are both involved in the Modern Energy Partners project – piloting opportunities to cut energy costs and carbon emissions at the Royal Navy’s largest training base. We are collaborating to offer services to organisations participating in phase two of the UK’s Energy Savings Opportunity Scheme (ESOS). We will also be
working together on a new industry project.

Both organisations are closely aligned in our vision for the future. It’s been exciting to share our perspectives on the fast-changing energy market.

What does the future hold?

We’ll see continued transformation of the energy sector. Decarbonisation, decentralisation and digitisation will, of
course, play a significant part. This will include the widespread adoption of innovations and technologies currently being used at relatively small scale. We also expect that the energy market will become increasingly customer-centric, with start-ups and SMEs driving disruption.

With world-class consultancy from WSP and innovative technology and future-proof solutions from Centrica Business Solutions, we can create exceptional, enduring value for customers. We look forward to continuing to work closely together.
